Today is the first day of the 16 Days of activism against Gender-based Violence. Between the 25th November & 10th December individuals, groups and organizations around the world use these 16 days to raise awareness of gender-based violence, speak up against it and inspire people to do what they can to end it. Please join us in praying about this huge issue, and the people affected by it.
Scripture Reading: Revelations 15:1-4 reads as follows: “Then I saw in the sky another mysterious sight, great and amazing. There were seven angels with seven plaques, which are the last ones, because they are the final expression of God’s anger. Then I saw what looked like sea of glass mixed with fire. I also saw those who had won the victory over the beast ad it’s image and the ones whose name is represented by a number. They were standing by the sea of glass, holding lamps that God had given them and singing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb: “Lord God Almighty how great and wonderful are your deeds, King of the nations, how right and true are your ways. Who will not stand in awe of you, Lord, Who will refuse to declare your greatness? You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, because your just actions are seen by all”.
Reflection: God now answers the prayer, “How long, Oh Lord, How long? God brings all apparent injustices into right relationship. At times, what appears to be loss is really a victory. The martyrs of the above versus appear to lose to the beast , but they come back in great victory . God works in different ways than man. Things are not always what they appear to be. The beast thought that he got rid of his enemies but they only came back with their sovereign Lord. God expect Christians to take a stand for what they believe. Put your confidence in the promises of God. Everything else in life is frail and fallible. We cannot improve upon the promises of God. Trust God to take you through your situation even though it may appear that you face great injustice.
Let us pray: God we pray that throughout the next 16 days, our hearts and minds will be open to better understand the reality of gender based violence and how we can come together to end it. We stand together with our Archbishop, Bishop and clergy as they lead us against the fight to end the violence. AMEN
